Mrs. Shen Is A Little Sweet! - Chapter 5
Chapter 5
Sigh! Thinking about it now, it made total sense. She owed him a massive debt for his escort services, yet had the gall to ask him to play her fake boyfriend. Of course he couldn’t be bothered to reply!
Ever since soliciting a male escort, she had spent her days in absolute terror back at school. She had even scraped together the very last of her pocket money to register for a checkup at a gynecological clinic, petrified that a single wild night with a host might have given her an infection!
Fortunately, the test results showed nothing out of the ordinary—except for some strange friction marks across her chest. Gu Shuangshuang couldn’t fathom how that had happened. Her full bust had been a source of annoyance since childhood; she had endured plenty of jealousy from female classmates and relentless stares from male peers, earning her the unasked-for title of X University’s “Bust Goddess”…
Ding-dong—
On her way to afternoon class, her WeChat chimed. Shuangshuang whipped out her phone immediately. Over the past couple of days, she had begged her best friend, Han Xiaoshuang, to find her a high-paying part-time gig.
She was flat broke, and Xiaoshuang had warned her that an escort’s bill is the last debt you want to default on! Supposedly, high-end gigolos were backed by ruthless underworld syndicates that would track down defaulting clients. She had no desire to end up with broken limbs or have her kidneys harvested, so paying him back ASAP was a matter of survival!
“Let’s see what great job Xiaoshuang found me…” she muttered.
Her expression instantly froze.
The message wasn’t from Xiaoshuang at all. It was from Lu Haoxuan:
[Shuangshuang, stop avoiding me. I’m waiting outside your faculty building. Come out so we can talk.]
The color drained from her face. Looking up, she saw a tall, refined figure standing beside a parked car near the Arts Building. He wore the blue-and-white striped shirt she used to love most, looking youthful and carefree.
A sudden chill surged from the soles of her feet despite the sweltering summer heat. Without a second thought, she spun around and bolted. Tears blurred her vision as she ran. Over a decade as childhood sweethearts, six years in a relationship—she had looked up to Lu Haoxuan since she was a little girl, believing that once he returned from studying abroad, they would get married. But reality had completely shattered that dream…
Gu Shuangshuang had no idea that her panicked flight was captured entirely through the tinted window of a sleek Bentley gliding by the curb.
Inside, Shen Mocheng sat with poised, aristocratic composure. Beside him, Secretary Zhang Qing’s report continued:
“Madam is an illegitimate child. Her biological mother remains unknown. She entered a welfare home at age six and stayed there until she was fourteen, when her father, Gu Hai, brought her back. She lived under the oppressive thumb of her stepmother and legitimate half-sister. Medical records show frequent hospital visits for blunt-force trauma, and she was prescribed Sertraline for a period.”
The man’s dark eyes narrowed. Sertraline—an antidepressant. The little girl had lived a truly bitter life.
His gaze locked onto her figure fleeing from the young man outside, and he asked coldly, “Does she have a boyfriend?”
Surprised, Zhang Qing replied, “How did you know, Mr. Shen? Indeed, she has a childhood sweetheart named Lu Haoxuan. Madam began dating him when she was fourteen.”
Keeping his eyes fixed on Shuangshuang’s distant silhouette, Shen Mocheng took a slow drag of his cigarette and exhaled a thin plume of smoke. “Hmph. Still dating? Pull over. Tell the university president to meet me at the Arts Building.”
Caught off guard, Zhang Qing dialed immediately.
Hiding behind the academic building, Shuangshuang waited with a stony face until the afternoon bell rang. Finally, Lu Haoxuan drove off.
She simply didn’t have the energy for petty drama or facing that scumbag.
Exhaling a long breath, she stepped out from the shadows. But just as she reached the stone planter in the courtyard, her boots came to an abrupt halt.
Wait… wait a second!
What on earth was she seeing right now?! Sweet heavens…
Right by the entrance of the Arts Building stood a tall, commanding silhouette. Dressed in a crisp black shirt and slim-cut trousers, one hand casually slipped into his pocket, his wrist bearing a luxury watch. Bathed in the sunlight, his chiseled, flawless profile looked almost unreal.
Shuangshuang blinked hard, rubbing her eyes in disbelief.
She looked again. And again.
Every single time, the image remained unchanged: that man was shaking hands warmly with her university president.
The… the… the top host?! Why the hell was he at her university, chatting earnestly with the president?!
Dammit!!
She knew it! She knew that wolf in sheep’s clothing wouldn’t let her off the hook! Just because she had delayed paying a measly few tens of thousands in escort fees for a couple of days, this old diva had actually marched straight to the university president to snitch on her!
Gu Shuangshuang’s entire world crumbled on the spot.
Despair washed over her. She could already picture tomorrow’s giant digital billboard on campus blasting her face alongside an expulsion notice:
EXPULSION NOTICE: Student expelled for gross misconduct, soliciting male escorts, defaulting on payments, and severely damaging Kyoto X University’s reputation!
Gritting her teeth, she rolled up her sleeves and prepared to charge toward the president to plead for mercy—when a hand gripped her arm from behind.
“Shuangshuang! The bell already rang, why are you still standing around?” It was her roommate, Zhao Xiao’er.
“Hurry up! If we’re late, our attendance score will take a hit!”
“Wait, Xiao’er, look at—”
Before she could finish, Xiao’er dragged her forcefully down the corridor.
Panting as she tumbled into the lecture hall, Shuangshuang broke into a cold sweat once she calmed down. If Xiao’er hadn’t yanked her away in time, she probably would have thrown herself at the president’s feet asking, “Mr. President, did this gigolo report me for hiring his services?”—a completely self-incriminating blunder!
Outside the faculty building.
Shen Mocheng slowly withdrew his gaze from the hallway, a faint, amused smirk playing at the corner of his lips.
Little idiot. We’ll be seeing each other again very soon.
Beside him, President Lin bowed respectfully. “Mr. Shen, we are deeply honored that you are willing to set aside your valuable time to teach here. Taking over courses in the Arts and Design Department is completely fine! We cannot thank you enough for your generous endowment. We look forward to having you start next Monday…”
Back in the dormitory that evening, Shuangshuang’s racing heart finally settled. Yet, a nagging question remained: had that old gigolo really not reported her to the president?
Suddenly, her phone rang.
Jumping out of her skin, thinking the president was calling, she looked at the screen and rolled her eyes in relief. “Xiaoshuang, you scared me half to death! I thought it was the principal!”
“What, did the principal finally set his sights on the Arts Department’s delicate flower and invite you out to a hotel?”
“…”
“Did you find something for me?”
Han Xiaoshuang got straight to the point. “Weren’t you desperate for a gig? I found one. It’s slightly unorthodox, but the pay is amazing! If you’re down, you start this Friday.”
“Seriously?!” Shuangshuang eagerly pulled up her schedule. “I can skip Monday morning’s elective! Woohoo!”
Hanging up in high spirits, she cupped her round cheeks and flopped onto the mattress. Hehe, the gigolo fund is secured! Life is looking bright again!
Monday morning arrived in the blink of an eye.
At seven in the morning, Xiaoshuang called to say the part-time job wouldn’t start until the afternoon.
Ending the call, Gu Shuangshuang happily crawled right back under the duvet. The eight o’clock elective was taught by Professor Zhang—according to the upperclassmen, he was famously sweet and never took attendance. That was the sole reason she had picked the class in the first place!
