The Female Teacher Who Fights Back - Chapter 18
Chapter 18: The Flamboyant Peacock 1
Wu Lang did not understand why the girl before her—someone she had only briefly encountered once—bore such inexplicable hostility toward her. However, she sensed that the girl’s blade held no killing intent; rather, it was primarily a test, so Wu Lang simply stopped her evasive movements. This was, after all, not Liuyun Street; a tragic incident of a student murdering a teacher in broad daylight was unlikely to happen here.
“Student Ou Wenji, this is the new head teacher for your class. She is here to collect the class materials from you,” Li Hao’s cheerful voice broke the eerie, deadlocked atmosphere between the two women as he stated their purpose.
Releasing her tight grip, Ou Wenji offered a polite nod of greeting. “Teacher Wu, I will organize the materials when I return and hand them over to you first thing tomorrow morning”.
“Where is your class located?”
“Building B, Room 203”.
“Very well. Notify the entire class that attendance at tomorrow’s early self-study session is mandatory”.
However, Ou Wenji neither nodded nor shook her head; instead, she coolly dropped a completely unrelated remark: “Before that, I hope to have a spar with Teacher Wu”. With that, she reassumed her stance, holding her unsheathed long blade horizontally across her chest.
Yet, the woman across from her, who possessed an equally cold temperament, replied quite flatly with two words: “I refuse!”
Seeing the two resume their “intense staring contest,” Li Hao, who was at a loss as to why things had unfolded this way, couldn’t help but have a large bead of sweat trickle down his temple.
Then again, if a national kendo champion held this seemingly thin and weak woman in such high regard, did it mean she was actually a hidden… expert? Originally, he had wondered why Director Liu had hired someone with such slender limbs to be a P.E. teacher, but upon recalling the earlier scene, those doubts were completely dispelled.
“Little Ji-Ji!”
At this tense moment, a teasing voice rang out inappropriately, causing the rarely expressive Ou Wenji to furrow her brows in displeasure.
Looking toward the sound, a man with defiant, messy blonde hair appeared. His hair slightly obscured his beautiful light-brown eyes, and beneath his high-bridged nose, his handsome thin lips curled into a faint, half-mocking smile.
The man wore the white school uniform but, unlike other students, had no tie; even the top two or three buttons of his shirt were undone, revealing his distinct collarbones. Around his neck hung an oval pendant on a silver chain, encrusted with small diamonds—simple yet luxurious.
Wu Lang’s gaze fixed on the badge pinned to the left side of his collar. Its rhombic facets sparkled, and the white crystal emitted a dazzling halo under the light. If she remembered correctly, the intricate pattern engraved on that badge was identical to the sculpture at the main gate of Sheng Tian Academy.
“Teacher Li, might I ask who this is…?” Although the blonde man addressed Li Hao, his gaze remained glued to the woman he was meeting for the first time.
“Oh, this is Wu Lang—Teacher Wu—who will be teaching in your class”.
“Wu Liang (Unscrupulous)? How can there be such a strange and hilarious name?” After saying this, the blonde man clutched his stomach and burst into a fit of unrestrained laughter. After a long while, he finally steadied his emotions and gave a flippant self-introduction: “Hello, I am the handsome, elegant, and suave man whose looks rival Pan An and whose wit puts Zhuge Liang to shame; the ‘pear blossom pressing down on the crabapple’; a legend with no predecessor or successor; the role model for millions of boys and the dream lover of countless girls—Hua Quqin, the Great Handsome Hua!”
