“Monitored by the students themselves?” Although Wu Lang had never attended school, she possessed basic common sense and found this highly unusual. After all, if students could manage themselves, there would be no reason for the school to exist.

“The situation with this class is quite special; the principal had no choice but to resort to this,” Li Hao explained, offering a constructive suggestion as a senior. “If you want the materials for Sophomore Class 3, you might as well try the Kendo Club on the third floor.” Although Wu Lang didn’t know the connection between the class and the Kendo Club, she nodded in agreement.

As they headed upstairs, Li Hao took the opportunity to introduce Wu Lang to the defining features of Sheng Tian Academy: its vast grounds, small student body, and an abundance of attractive young men and women.

The academy’s most distinct feature was its uniforms, which were handmade and tailored to each student’s physique. Girls wore vibrant, cute light pink, while boys wore deep, steady blue-black; only Student Union members wore pure white, symbolizing light and peace. For these students, the uniform was a status symbol, as only the elite from powerful families were allowed to attend.

Furthermore, Sheng Tian was the only school in the country without specialized majors. Since most students were from wealthy backgrounds, financial management was a mandatory course for everyone. In other words, it was a “star” school dedicated to training heirs for the corporate and political worlds.

While the academy accepted a limited number of exceptional students on scholarship each year under strict conditions, the number of applicants continued to grow. Entering Sheng Tian was seen as being halfway to success, and even some teachers came there dreaming of one day elevating their social status.

“I see; it’s just a playground built by the rich,” Wu Lang concluded after hearing this.

Walking ahead, Li Hao didn’t catch her murmur and asked, “Xiao Wu, what did you say?” as he reached to pull open the door to the Kendo Club. In the next instant, Wu Lang sensed a subtle abnormality and violently shoved Li Hao aside, bracing herself with one hand on the ground to perform a side-roll.

In a flash, Li Hao saw a white light flicker before his eyes. A sharp blade sliced off a piece of his trendy hairstyle. As he watched his hair drift to the floor, he froze, his mind going blank.

If the first strike was a “lapse in attention,” the follow-up blade aimed at Wu Lang was a clear “deliberate act”. Thanks to her agility, Wu Lang tilted her head just in time to narrowly dodge the thunderous blow.

However, as the blade swung toward her again, Wu Lang acted as if she noticed nothing. She slowly stood up, allowing the tip of the blade to stop abruptly less than a centimeter from her neck.

“Is this how your Kendo Club welcomes people?”

“Special guests get special treatment.”

“Wu Lang.”

“Ou Wenji.”

Staring at their clasped hands, Li Hao blinked in confusion once he regained his senses. He truly didn’t understand what these two were playing at. Yet, he wondered if he imagined that both of their knuckles were turning white and the veins beneath their skin were becoming visible.
