Chapter 38: A Special Lesson 5
"Principal Shao, this is Liu Xing. There is a matter I would like to consult you on." Feeling apprehensive before one's superior seemed common among all employees, and a pragmatist like Liu Xing was no exception.
"What is it? Speak quickly, this old man is very busy over here." It was hard to say what this principal—who showed up at the school only once a week—was busy with all day, yet hearing that it was a call from the school made him exceedingly impatient.
"Principal Shao, here is what happened..." Director Liu explained the entire sequence of events from beginning to end, finishing with a very tactful statement of her own perspective.
"Director Liu, do you mean to say you want to dismiss Teacher Wu?"
"Mhm." Although Director Liu's response was barely audible, it did not escape a certain woman's sharp hearing.
Far exceeding everyone's expectations, Principal Shao suddenly erupted into a furious temper on the other end: "Director Liu, listen to this old man carefully: no matter what happens, even if you are fired, Teacher Wu will never be fired!"
"But, regarding the Parent Committee—"
"No 'buts'!" Perhaps having dealt with annoying interruptions from those wealthy ladies in the past, Shao Xuanbang's temper flared instantly. He cut her off bluntly: "Director Liu, you tell them that the heir of the Shi family is currently studying at Sheng Tian. If they accidentally offend the Shi family over this, they'll have to bear the consequences themselves!"
"The Shi family?" Confusion flickered in Director Liu's eyes. Although there were a few students surnamed Shi at the school, none in her memory possessed a background formidable enough to make both the principal and the richest tycoon in Linhai City tread so cautiously.
"You don't need to worry about the rest, just do as I instructed." Tossing down those hurried words, Shao Xuanbang hung up the phone. Director Liu stared blankly at her phone, an inexplicable sense of sorrow rising within her heart.
Although the crowd had already guessed the answer from Director Liu's dejected expression, Fu Wanzi still held onto a sliver of hope and asked: "Director, what's the verdict? Is the principal going to dismiss this unscrupulous teacher?"
However, at this moment, Director Liu had no energy left to spare for Fu Wanzi. Taking several brisk strides to the entrance, she intercepted the woman who was about to leave, lowering her voice: "Teacher Wu, what I said earlier was merely spoken in anger; please don't take it to heart. Sophomore Class 3—and indeed the entire Sheng Tian Academy—needs you very much."
"Eh, what did you say?" Wu Lang tilted her head slightly, as if she hadn't heard clearly.
Left with no choice, Director Liu forced herself to be patient and repeated: "I said, what I said earlier was just out of temper, so Teacher Wu, please don't take it to heart. Sophomore Class 3 and the entire Sheng Tian Academy need you very much."
"My apologies, my hearing is a bit dull. Could you please speak a little louder?"
"You—" Director Liu gritted her teeth in frustration, thinking to herself: Good grief, she finally saw through it—this Teacher Wu looked completely harmless and low-profile on the surface, but deep down she held a serious grudge!
Whether it was that phone call just now or the unusual reactions from Hua Quqin and Ou Wenji, it was clear for now that Wu Lang served some special purpose to them. Though she didn't yet know the exact reason, at this stage, no matter how much chaos she stirred up, she had nothing to fear!
And so, Director Liu—who was always strict with herself and harsh on others—was left utterly miserable...
